Song of the Day

I think I'll start doing a Song of the Day kind of thing since I'm listening to music constantly. I have a wide range of musical tastes so expect different kinds of genres and different kinds of cultures.

I was browsing tumblr when I came across this one song. Usually I don't take time out of my way to find the title of songs but like, this one was great. It's an awesome kpop song with an upbeat tempo and awesome beat. I could dance to it all morning (in fact, I believe I have). It's super catchy and I totally recommend listening to it. Of course, most of you probably won't understand a single word of it but just keep an open mind.

Meal of the Day: Beef and Bell Pepper Stir Fry

Well, I know you guys probably don't know this but my family and I are now renovating our house. We're hoping it'll be done by the end of August but everything's going really slow. We're still clamoring to choose colors and furniture and room designs and with only two contractors actually working on the house, you bet it'll take a bit of time but hey, it's getting done.

Anyways, the two contractors working on the house are my cousin - who flew in all the way from Washington - to help us and my uncle. Because we're related, mum decided she'd bring them lunch every day they're working at the house and with that, she always makes sure we cook enough food so they have lunch and dinner. Now that it's summer and I have to learn how to cook, she has now forced the job upon me.

I'm not a cooking guru. I'm just an everyday teenager but I can't say I didn't do too bad of a job for my first time cooking this dish. Here's the recipe!

Beef and Bell Pepper Stir Fry with Rice
Yield: Enough food for like... 6 or so servings.
Cook time: 30 minutes to an hour with preparation
Ingredients:
1/2 lb. of beef cut into thin slices
2-3 tablespoons cooking oil (it's more of a preference thing but just make sure you have enough to not burn the meat and onions)
1 large green bell pepper, deseeded and cut into 1x1 inch pieces
1 large red bell pepper, deseeded and cut into 1x 1 inch pieces
1 onion, cut into strips (I personally would put 2 but again, it's all preference)
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1/2-1 table spoon honey
Salt
Method:
1. Marinate the beef with the honey, oyster sauce, a sprinkle or two of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of the black pepper in a bowl for about 15 minutes.
2. Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a pot or skillet over medium heat and throw the onions in. Cook until the onions are transparent.
3. Add another teaspoon of olive oil and add the beef. Stir-fry until the beef is browned on the outside. Take the beef (you can leave the onions) out of the skillet/pot you're using and set it aside.
3. Add the green bell pepper and red bell pepper (oil is optional here) and add a dash of black pepper and salt. Stir-fry until you feel the bell pepper is cooked.
4. Transfer the beef back into the skillet/pot. Stir-fry until the beef is cooked through and the center of the meat is no longer pink. Dish out and serve with steamed rice.
It should look like this when it's done.
Black Pepper Beef (Black Pepper Steak)
And that's basically how it's done. It's really easy and really tasty. I'm definitely going to try this again soon.

Summer Projects

Well, I'm just going to make this blog my summer project. I actually have a lot of projects going on right now, now that I think about it. I'm going to college next year so I'm attempting to learn how to cook - I never realized how difficult and time consuming it was - as well as learning blog editing and photography. My family and I are also renovating a house while I'm siding piano again. My boyfriend is trying to teach me philosophy, how to watch and buy/sell stocks, and how to debate. I'm not good at any of the three.

I'm attempting to exercise as well. I plan on giving myself a make over before I head out for senior year. It's been a goal of mine and it's either "do it senior year and wow all the people who called you ugly before" or "do it before you head for college because its a new beginning." I kind of just want to get healthy and wear the clothes I want. In order to do this, I've been searching sites like Pinterest, Tumblr, YouTube, and just Google in general for exercises. I'll pretty much do anything but run. I really can't run.

I feel like I sound really busy but my life doesn't feel that way at all. Half the time, I'm sitting on the couch on my super old laptop browsing the web.

This is really random but I feel like Sarah Jessica Parker off of Sex and the City and how she writes out everything about her life and stuff at the end of every episode.

But yeah. Time to go cook lunch for the family (god forbid I burn anything). I'll be back soon!

Welcome to my blog!

Well, this is exciting. It's 1:30 in the morning and here I am, creating a blog. What for? I haven't the slightest idea. I guess it was just something to do or maybe I'm craving something bigger. Who knows.

Anyways, welcome newcomer! It's nice to meet you and I hope you enjoy your stay here. This blog is going to be spammed with fashion ideas, food recipes, and just things that are happening in my life. I'm not really sure what kind of blog I'm trying to run - because I can't really just do fashion or advice or the life of an average teen - but I plan on making sure it's entertaining. I mean, I live in Louisiana and I'm Asian. There's gotta be something worthwhile in that combo.
